چکیده

In the present s tudy, a new self-nanoemuls ified drug delivery formulation (SNEDDF) of indomethacin (IND) was tes ted in rats for its in viv o p e rformance. Pharmacokinetic s tudies of IND SNEDDF was carried out after oral adminis tration of the prepared formulation (capsules) and compared with that of orally adminis tered IND oily solution (filled in capsule). From the pharmacokinetic p a ra me t ers , it was found that IND SNEDD capsules have improved bioavailability max over IND oily solution capsules . T h e v a lu e s of AUC and C for IND SNEDD capsules were 792.17 ± 68.44 ng.hr/ml and 130.45 ± 4.84 n g / ml re s p e c t ively as compared to 151.50 ± 33.14 ng.hr/ml and 23.83 ± 3.66 ng/ml for IND oily solution capsules . The s tudy showed t h a t SNEDDF could be used not only to enhance the bioavailability of lip o p h ilic drugs but also to decrease the regular doses of these drugs , which may lead to eliminate or reduce their s ide effects as well.

Improved oral bioavailability of poorly water-soluble indirubin by a supersaturatable self-microemulsifying drug delivery system

BACKGROUND Indirubin, isolated from the leaves of the Chinese herb Isatis tinctoria L, is a protein kinase inhibitor and promising antitumor agent. However, the poor water solubility of indirubin has limited its application. In this study, a supersaturatable self-microemulsifying drug delivery system (S-SMEDDS) was developed to improve the oral bioavailability of indirubin. METHODS A prototyp...

Nanoemulsion as a strategy for improving the oral bioavailability and anti-inflammatory activity of andrographolide

Background Andrographolide (AG), a compound with low water solubility, possesses various pharmacological activities, particularly anti-inflammatory activity. However, its low oral bioavailability is a major obstacle to its potential use. This study developed and optimized an AG-loaded nanoemulsion (AG-NE) formulation to improve AG oral bioavailability and its protective effects against inflamma...
